May 17

Today is May 17th. One year ago today I accidentally drove my motorbike in front of a moving car. Take the time to appreciate being alive.

How to make a picture last forever

In pursuit of achieving my exciting, making memories with people, taking a lot of pictures summer I have come to a crucial finding. Amazing pictures help remind you of good memories, and all amazing pictures involve a ponytail and an ice axe. Lets be fair, just an ice axe or a ponytail will make a picture great. As you can see, but just imagine them together. I know I don't have one to show you yet but soon... This is the top of Sentry Mountain, in the Crowsnest Pass. One is of me with all the hair that could possible fit into two strategically placed ponytails (Turtle Mountain aka The Frank Slide in the back) and the other is my new boss with the axe (Crowsnest Mountain in the back). Also to achieve the height, Karin as seen in my sunglasses (if you look close enough you should see them both). Remember, most good things start with a ponytail and an ice axe.

351 days in the making

It has been quite snowy since I moved back, which is alright because I have had lots of interesting things to do inside. Like eating.... I know this might be hard to believe but my mom is a better cook than me. She also cooks with meat every meal. mmmm.

I also have set up what is soon to be a home recording studio, as soon as I can get a program and actually start recording stuff, I have the mics and stuff all set up. Sometimes I plug in my guitar and mic into my acoustic amp and pretend that I am playing in front of thousands of screaming fans...mostly girls...the vast majority of them screaming out my name, when in reality it is only me in my basement. And for the voice solos, you better believe I grab the mic off of the stand, wrap it around my hand and just giver. Everyone goes crazy, I end with a "thank you all very much, and stay in school,” comment just as my mom calls me for supper.

It had been 351 days since I last road a motorbike, that date also coincidentally coincides with how long ago I broke my femur. I said "had" because tonight I boosted the battery on my new bike an 83 Yamaha Virago, and took her for an uninsured, unlicensed spin on the road around my house. It felt like I had somehow; in the past 351 days become a real seasoned motorcyclist, instead of a young and foolish kid. It felt amazing...when I stated down the hill I was a little frightened I admit, but the feeling was soon overcome with the pure excitement that you feel when you are riding a bike. A feeling that I am unable to describe with words you must experience it to understand. I think it is going to be scary to ride again on the road, where vehicles are more readily available to inflict pain. And so I will try this motorcycle thing again, hoping to learn from my experience and be a wiser rider. So much fun...I am glad I trust in a God who has a plan for my life, not using it as an excuse to be stupid, although some people think it stupid to ride again. I think it is stupid to spend the rest of you life fearing something.
